HISTORY (1975) Columbia County, located in Central Eastern Pennsylvania, contains a rich heritage from an era long since past. Of its many historical attributes, probably the most prominent is the existance of twenty-six (26) nineteenth century covered bridges, more than any other county in the nation.
With this in mind, and in keeping with the Spirit of the Nation's Bicentennial, the Columbia County Planning Commission is proud to present these individual pen and ink sketches of the covered bridges in the County of Columbia, "The Covered Bridge Capital of the World."
